September 23 - September 24
Do you want to have x-ray hands? Our Anatomy of Touch course is a hands-on learning experience and palpation course designed for bodyworkers, physical therapists, and movement teachers to deeply understand the anatomy they touch and the mechanics of how touch works, thus leading to better client outcomes and more successful practices.
We created this anatomical palpation course for professionals in the field of manual therapy to combine our years of anatomy expertise and manual palpation skills. Hands-on study of the body in the cadaver lab will accelerate your understanding of the body and improve client outcomes. This course is suitable for bodyworkers, manual therapists and movement teachers of all experience levels.
In this course we will utilize multimodal learning techniques to teach human anatomy with special consideration for the needs and understanding for manual therapists and movement teachers of all learning styles. We will lecture, teach from plastinates, show cadaver prosections and palpate living human anatomy.
We will answer questions like: “What is a knot?’’~“What is fascia?”~“What am I really touching?”~“How is it all connected?”
Lectures will be on anatomical structures, the physiological implications of touch, location and structure of endangerment sites as well as common injuries/pathologies. Students will learn from anatomical images and plastinates, 3D models made from real human anatomy from the makers of BODY WORLDS, then be taken into the cadaver lab to see dissections of relevant structures.
This course will include students palpating structures on each other so they can immediately apply what they learn. By the end of this course, participants will have an improved understanding of the physiology of touch and the anatomy of what they are touching when they work on their clients thus making their techniques both safer and more effective.
We are grateful to our donors as they are truly our greatest teachers. We honor their generous gift to benefit the lives of others as a lasting legacy we are proud to carry forward.
