SUMMARY:2-Day Whole Body Anatomical Dissection
DESCRIPTION:October 12 + 13\, 2024\n  \n \nOur 2-Day Human Dissection Intensive will give participants the opportunity to holistically explore the human body and is designed to teach anatomical structures and relationships. Participants will dissect for two full days working through the various textural layers of the human body and get to discover first hand the interconnectedness and relationships within the body.  Students will dissect the entire body layer-by-layer starting with the skin and superficial fascia then continue on to the muscle layers and deep joint structures instead of going through region-specific areas in separate sections. \nAlthough a short course\, it allows for broad study\, direct learning and hands-on study of the human body.  It is perfect as an anatomical review or for anyone with a passion and curiosity for anatomy. \nOur cadavers are embalmed with a special soft-fixed formula allowing the muscles and joints to retain more mobility and realistic colors and textures. This dissection course is ideal for physical therapists\, bodyworkers\, yoga teachers\, athletic trainers\, or healthcare professionals who want a deeper look inside the human body. \nOur anatomists will review general anatomy at the beginning of each day and guide participants through the dissection process by both demonstrating dissection techniques\, differentiating structures and aiding the process as needed. We honor their generous gift to benefit the lives of others as a lasting legacy we are proud to carry forward.\nYour Instructors:\nFauna Moore\, LMBT \nFauna is our Academic Programs Specialist and her favorite place to be outside of the lab is at the front of a classroom.  Fauna has been teaching hands on anatomy for over a decade.  She also has a background in ashtanga yoga and 20 years as a bodyworker. Fauna is a pro at helping others understand how anatomy relates to everyday life.  Her inspired teaching style keeps learners interested and engaged while also making complex concepts understandable. She has done extensive work dissecting fascia\, and was a founding member of the Fascial Net Plastination Project creating the first full body fascia plastinate in partnership with BODY WORLDS\, The Plastinarium and The Fascia Research Society. \n  \nBrandon Flom\, MS \nBrandon has been enthralled by the sciences for his entire life. What started out as an obsession with astronomy blossomed into an aptitude for the life sciences. He discovered his true passion while learning anatomy under Dr. Timothy Ballard at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. He continued to explore the field and obtained a B.S. in Biology\, but his focus remained fixed on the study of the body. In the interest of honing his skills\, Brandon went to Tulane University to obtain an M.S. in Anatomy. He returned to his hometown of Charlotte\, NC where he serendipitously discovered Experience Anatomy. Here he helps prepare tissue for our clients and develops content so he can spread the knowledge of the body to as many people as possible. \n  \n  \nExample of Daily Schedule\nProgram days will run 9:00am-5:00pm with an hour break for lunch. \nSchedule will adjust as needed. Fauna specializes in teaching anatomy to students who have not been formally trained in the subject\, making her lectures easy to understand and appropriate for all levels of learners. This program is for everyone interested in anatomy ages 8 and up. \nThe specimens we will be examining have been preserved through the process of plastination from the creators of the famed Body Worlds exhibition. The process renders perfect examples of true human anatomy made from cadaveric tissue. SUMMARY:2-Day Whole Body Anatomical Dissection Intensive
DESCRIPTION:Our 2-Day Whole Body Anatomical Dissection Intensive will give participants the opportunity to holistically explore the human body and is designed to teach anatomical structures and relationships. Participants will dissect for two full days working through the various textural layers of the human body and get to discover first hand the interconnectedness and relationships within the body.  Students will dissect the entire body layer-by-layer starting with the skin and superficial fascia then continue on to the muscle layers and deep joint structures instead of going through region-specific areas in separate sections. \nAlthough a short course\, it allows for broad study\, direct learning and hands-on study of the human body.  It is perfect as an anatomical review or for anyone with a passion and curiosity for anatomy. \nOur cadavers are embalmed with a special soft-fixed formula allowing the muscles and joints to retain more mobility and realistic colors and textures. This dissection course is ideal for physical therapists\, bodyworkers\, yoga teachers\, athletic trainers\, or healthcare professionals who want a deeper look inside the human body. \nOur anatomists will review general anatomy at the beginning of each day and guide participants through the dissection process by both demonstrating dissection techniques\, differentiating structures and aiding the process as needed. We honor their generous gift to benefit the lives of others as a lasting legacy we are proud to carry forward.\nYour Instructors:\nFauna Moore\, LMBT \nFauna is our Academic Programs Specialist and her favorite place to be outside of the lab is at the front of a classroom.  Fauna has been teaching hands on anatomy for over a decade.  She also has a background in ashtanga yoga and 20 years as a bodyworker. Fauna is a pro at helping others understand how anatomy relates to everyday life.  Her inspired teaching style keeps learners interested and engaged while also making complex concepts understandable. She has done extensive work dissecting fascia\, and was a founding member of the Fascial Net Plastination Project creating the first full body fascia plastinate in partnership with BODY WORLDS\, The Plastinarium and The Fascia Research Society. \n  \nBrandon Flom\, MS \nBrandon has been enthralled by the sciences for his entire life. What started out as an obsession with astronomy blossomed into an aptitude for the life sciences. He discovered his true passion while learning anatomy under Dr. Timothy Ballard at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. He continued to explore the field and obtained a B.S. in Biology\, but his focus remained fixed on the study of the body. In the interest of honing his skills\, Brandon went to Tulane University to obtain an M.S. in Anatomy. He returned to his hometown of Charlotte\, NC where he serendipitously discovered Experience Anatomy. Here he helps prepare tissue for our clients and develops content so he can spread the knowledge of the body to as many people as possible. \n  \n  \nExample of Daily Schedule\nProgram days will run 9:00am-5:00pm with an hour break for lunch. \nSchedule will adjust as needed. SUMMARY:Hands-On Anatomy for Home-Schoolers
DESCRIPTION:Join us in the lab to see human anatomy up close and in person! \nIn this very special half day offering we will give students a chance to see and touch real human specimens from our plastinate and wet specimen collections. By getting to see and touch the anatomy inside all of us\, students will have a greater appreciation for how body systems work and how disease processes can happen. Students walk away with a greater sense of awe and wonder for their bodies and encouragement to continue studying life sciences. \nOur plastinates are real human specimens created by the makers of Body Worlds that render human tissue perfectly preserved in a dry odorless form that still demonstrates the beauty and intricacies of real anatomy. Wet specimens are the chemically preserved organs and bones that have been collected from some of our cadaver dissections. SUMMARY:Anatomy Art
DESCRIPTION:Weaving science and art goes back to the Renaissance Age where Leonardo DaVinci made drawings of the human body as an integral part of studying anatomy. Here at Experience Anatomy\, we provide real human tissue through plastinates and cadavers for artists and scientists alike who want a deeper view of the human body. \nOur Anatomy Art course offers students the use of our plastinate as references to sketch general anatomical form or find deeper anatomical relationships that you can’t see in other 2D references. Take a step inside our lab space and dissect our softly embalmed cadaveric donors to visualize life-like human tissue\, more akin to the tissue you’ll see in an OR. Sift through our surgical tools and dissect a specific region of the body to visualize the perfect still to create an image to add to your portfolio. \nOur anatomists will help with the dissection process to both demonstrate dissection techniques and to provide additional detailed dissections of specific structures. They will also be able to answer all your specific questions pertaining to anatomical structures that you see in the plastinates and the cadaver to fully paint a picture of the human body\, form and function. Participants will come away with a deeper understanding and appreciation of the human body. We are grateful to our donors as they are truly our greatest teachers.
