The eyeball has the unique ability to turn light from the outside world into electrical impulses that allow the brain to interpret what we see via specialized cells called photoreceptors. Just like a camera, the eyeball must adjust focus to see clearly. Discover the layers and structures of the eyeball that allow it to communicate with the brain by dissecting a cow eye in this course. You will see the world in a whole new way!
The visual system is just one topic in Experience Anatomy’s 4-part dissection series intended to explore the wonders of the human body. The entire series will expose participants to the cardiovascular, nervous, visual and digestive system. Participants will assess their own physiology, examine preserved human organs, and dissect animal tissue to ensure ideas are processed in an interactive format.
Course material is intended for learners ages 12-18 and parents are encouraged to accompany younger participants. Join us to Experience Anatomy!
The Discovering Anatomy Dissection Series is sponsored by Culture Blocks – a community partnership funded by Mecklenburg County.
